Description: German Army Officer Dress Dagger complete with portepee, scabbard, and hanger.

(Starting at the Pommel and working my way down) The Pommel is decorated with oak leaves, the grip has the orange finish with dirt in the grooves giving it a classic look.

The portepee is intact, there are several areas of fraying and one side of the cord is severed from the tassel. The Ferrule is also decorated with oak leaves. The Cross Guard depicts an eagle in flight clutching a swastika in his talons.

The blade is marked with the "kissing cranes" then below that you can make out the letters "OBTKLAAS" , then below that SOLINGEN. (I believe the second line originally said "ROBTKLAAS" however, all we can make out is OB and then a small T with a line under it and then KLAAS)

Blade has some scuffs (from sliding it in and out of the scabbard). The tip of the blade has a small knick in it (so small I can't even photograph it). The scabbard is in good condition with a few dings here and there (see pics), I don't see any signs of rust, the scabbard has a nice patina over it.

Hanger mounts are intact with the oak leaf pattern on both. Hanger rings are in good condition. Hanger clips are in good condition with the familiar oak leaf pattern. Hanger clips have the initials "D.R.G.M.". on the back of them. The hanger is still intact . The hanger consists of two straps attached to a single metal piece. The front side of the straps are of silver material with bullion. The back side is of green felt construction. The length of the hanger straps can be adjusted by the use of two oval buckles. One per strap. The buckles are highly decorated with oak leaves.

We have shown this item to a dealer and we both believe this to be authentic.
